Research Interests:
- Magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling
- Winds in the upper atmosphere
- Space-weather effects on radio propagation
- Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN)
Research:
Dr. William Bristow’s research interests include studies of winds in the upper atmosphere, studies of the magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, and space-weather effects on radio propagation, which directly impacts radio communications in high-latitude regions. Dr. Bristow is one of the US principal investigators for the Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN). He is responsible for the operation of radars at Kodiak and Adak, Alaska, and McMurdo Station and South Pole Station, Antarctica
